Introduction to Bill Rates
Bill Rates are the amounts you bill your clients for the work performed by your contractors and are used when generating work invoices.
When you first create a client, the starting bill rate will be the default entered on the Company Info page.
These rates each have an effective date so you can schedule rate future changes. The rates are broken into the following levels, each one overriding the one before it:
- Client Bill Rate
- User Bill Rate (Client Level)
- Prospect Bill Rate
- User Bill Rate (Prospect Level)
Client Bill Rate
This is the standard amount that the client will be billed for all the work performed for them by any contractor - unless you override it by configuring a contractor specific bill rate or a prospect bill rate.
User Bill Rate (Client Level)
If the work performed by a specific contractor needs to be billed at a special rate when they work for a specific client, then a User Bill Rate can be configured to override the client's standard rate.
Configuring Client Bill Rates
The standard client bill rate and any contractor specific rates for the client are configured on the client's Bill Rates tab.
Prospect Bill Rate
If the work performed in a specific prospect needs to be billed at a special rate, then you can configure a Prospect Bill Rate to override the standard client bill rate and any contractor specific bill rates.
User Bill Rate (Prospect Level)
Finally, a contractor specific rate can be configured for a prospect which will override the Prospect Bill Rate and any client rates.
Configuring Prospect Bill Rates
The standard bill rate and the contractor specific prospect bill rates can be configured on the prospect's Bill Rates tab.
Additional Information
When calculating the bill rate to use for a specific time entry, Landboss first looks to see if there is a contractor specific bill rate for the prospect that is in effect, then if it doesn't find one it checks for a prospect bill rate. If there aren't any applicable prospect bill rates then it checks the client for a contractor specific bill rate, finally falling back to the standard client bill rate.
Similar to Bill Rates, Pay Rates are the amounts used to pay your contractors for their work. Like Bill Rates, Pay Rates can be customized by contractor, client, and prospect. See the Introduction to Pay Rates to learn more.
